Fine Wire EG and EV NGK Fine Wire Spark Plugs were developed to meet the demands of low-powered magneto type ignition systems on early model motocross bikes and snowmobiles. The fine wire of the EG (nickel electrode) and EV (gold palladium electrode) Spark Plugs significantly lowers the voltage requirement for firing, optimizing the magneto ignition system. Fine Wire Platinum VX VX Platinum Spark Plugs are an extension of the successful Fine Wire Spark Plug line, and are made with the same superior manufacturing quality NGK has maintained for years. A basic property of electricity is that it is easier to push a current through a thin wire (which offers less resistance) than a thick wire. Therefore NGK has reduced the VX Platinum Plug's center electrode diameter to .8 mm, allowing your ignition system to operate at its maximum efficiency. The higher durability of platinum allows the use of a thinner center electrode, while maintaining a long service life. VX Platinum Spark Plugs are the plugs of choice for many racing and performance-minded enthusiasts, and will work great in virtually all applications. The VX Platinum Spark Plug is engineered with a tapered ground electrode for better heat transfer and improved ignitability.

It may be time to invest in precious metal futures. NGK Iridium Spark Plugs represent the ultimate evolution of spark plug technology and performance. Iridium allows for a center electrode 75 percent the size of a platinum electrode and 24 percent the size of a conventional nickel electrode. The fine electrode tip is engineered for greater ignitability. And it's in the design of the iridium tip that makes Iridium IX a better spark plug. The electrode is not too thin and not too thick. It's just the right size to reduce the voltage required for spark and to maximize the overall longer life qualities of iridium.
